Advancing Satellite Communication Technology

SpaceForest is currently integrating an X-band Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) in its ISO7 cleanroom. The amplifier’s target application is downstream data transmitters, particularly for constellations of Earth observation satellites. This development marks another important step toward building reliable and efficient communication systems for space missions.

Engineering Model and Technology Readiness

The device under integration is an engineering model that will soon reach Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL 7). This level means that the system has been successfully tested in its operational environment, meeting all performance and reliability requirements. As a result, the SSPA is moving closer to being ready for commercial and scientific satellite applications.

Collaboration with ESA and Tesat Spacecom

This project is part of the Highly Integrated X-band SSPA initiative by the European Space Agency (ESA). SpaceForest is collaborating with Tesat Spacecom, combining our expertise in microwave engineering with Tesat’s long-standing experience in satellite communication technologies. Together, we are developing solutions that support Europe’s independence and competitiveness in the space sector.

Looking Ahead

The integration process is progressing smoothly, and the upcoming qualification tests will confirm the amplifier’s performance under real mission conditions. With this achievement, SpaceForest continues to strengthen its position as a trusted partner in ESA projects and a developer of advanced electronic systems for the space industry.
