Boost! Commercial space flights with the Perun rocket – We have signed a contract with ESA

We have just signed a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) under the “Boost!” program, which will significantly accelerate our further development and the commercialization of suborbital flight services using the Perun rocket system.

Rocket system

Our Perun rocket provides a unique opportunity to conduct scientific experiments in authentic space conditions, allowing for several minutes of research in microgravity. This enables precise observations and data collection in a true space environment, ideal for advancing knowledge in fields such as materials science, biology, and physics.

Thanks to its design and capabilities, it will be able to carry a payload of up to 50 kg to an altitude of 150 km. Communication and control will also be ensured. It is designed as a reusable rocket to recover the payload, propulsion part, and the entire body. The Perun rocket system will provide a cost-effective platform for research in extraterrestrial conditions. Perun uses fuel based on modified paraffin, making our propulsion non-toxic. The entire launch system is mobile, allowing launches from various locations, including over water. Last year, we had the opportunity to conduct two full-scale tests of the Perun rocket, which reached altitudes of 22 km and 13 km, launching from Ustka, over the Baltic Sea.

Commercialization

We primarily direct our suborbital flight services to companies, institutions, and universities, offering the possibility of conducting scientific research, testing space technologies, educational projects, Earth and space observation, developing commercial space services, rapid transportation, and marketing services.

The competitiveness of the Perun rocket system is based on providing affordable access to space, which will directly impact the sector’s development and enable broader use of space technologies by companies, research institutions, and universities that previously did not have such opportunities.

Boost! Program

Through cooperation with ESA, we will receive financial support of 2.4 million euros for the next key activities:

  • We plan to improve the combustion chamber, which we will design, produce, and test in flight. As part of this process, we will also conduct demonstration flights at altitudes of 50 km, 80 km, 100 km, and 150 km to thoroughly verify our system and microgravity parameters.
  • We want to develop a mobile refueling station, ground support station, and tracking and communication systems. These solutions will be transportable using standard vehicles on regular roads, including marine and air transport.

Through the Boost! program, ESA supports companies providing transportation services to space and returns to Earth. This program also enables member states to achieve goals such as developing spaceports and testing facilities.
