A Visit to the World’s Largest Particle Physics Laboratory

From April 2nd to 4th, 2019, representatives of Polish companies operating in the advanced electronicsresearch, and development sectors participated in the Poland @ CERN 2019 event. Together with about 20 other enterprises and institutions from Poland, we visited CERN in Geneva – the world’s largest particle physics laboratory.

The mission aimed to foster business collaboration and exchange technological expertise, as well as to showcase the potential of the Polish high-tech sector in international research projects.

Day One – Presentations and CERN Tour

The first day was dedicated to presentations by CERN staff, who discussed the principles of technological and commercial cooperation. We learned how high-tech companies can participate in CERN’s research projects and the procedures for ordering innovative technological solutions.

Following the official program, we toured key research facilities, including:

  • CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) – one of the main detectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC),
  • CERN Data Center – processing vast amounts of scientific data,
  • The first synchrocyclotron built at CERN – marking the beginning of particle physics research at the facility.

Day Two – B2B Meetings and Networking

The second day focused on B2B meetings with CERN representatives interested in specific advanced electronics and scientific research solutions. At the Polish companies’ booths, we discussed the potential application of our technologies in international research projects.

This was an excellent opportunity to present Polish achievements in research and development (R&D) and to explore potential joint projects.

Day Three – Poland @ CERN 2019 Mission Summary

The final day was dedicated to summary presentations and experience sharing. The business contacts established open the door to long-term collaboration in the high-tech sector and strengthen the role of Polish companies in global scientific research.

Why Collaborate with CERN?

CERN is not only a world-class science institution but also offers vast opportunities for companies specializing in innovative technologiesParticle physics projects demand cutting-edge solutions in electronicsengineering, and computational technologies, enabling the development of new products and the acquisition of unique technological expertise.
