The end of the year is a good time to achieve milestones. Together with our partner Tesat-Spacecom, we have reached technological readiness level 5 of the European Space Agency – ESA project ”Highly Integrated Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) Operating in X Band“.

The project started in October 2018. Its main goal was to design a highly integrated SSPA operating in the typical frequency range used for downlink transmitters in earth observation missions. The X-Band SSPA was designed for 7 years of operation in the low Earth orbit (LEO). The solution is intended for the Space 4.0 market for modern LEO and GEO satellites. The result of the project is an SSPA engineering model tested in laboratory conditions. The end also means the beginning of something new.

The kick-off meeting of the new project “Development of highly integrated low-cost X-band SSPA EQM” took place at the SpaceForest headquarter in Gdynia. The goal is to increase the technological readiness level of the designed SSPA to TRL7 (demonstration of a system prototype in a space environment).
