SpaceForest Wins Three Pomeranian Economic Griffin Awards (Gryf Gospodarczy) 2025
SpaceForest received the titles of Innovation Leader, Investment Leader and Media Griffin during the 2025 Pomeranian Economic Griffin Awards, recognising the company’s contribution to the development of rocket technology, advanced space electronics, radar and microwave technology in the Pomeranian region (Poland).
Three prestigious awards for SpaceForest
Awards under the patronage of the Marshal’s Office of the Pomeranian Province for innovation and investments in the region.
During this year’s Pomeranian Economic Griffin Awards gala, SpaceForest became a triple laureate, receiving the titles Innovation Leader, Investment Leader and Media Griffin, granted by the media patronizing the competition.
These awards highlight the company’s contribution to the development of regional technological specializations and its bold investment strategy, which strengthens the economy of Pomerania and Poland’s position in the European space sector.
Innovation Leader – Developing Future Technologies
As a research and technology company based in Gdynia, SpaceForest has been developing advanced microwave, rocket and satellite technologies for over 20 years, adapting its activities to key areas of Pomeranian smart specialisations (ISP2).
In recent years, the company has carried out a number of groundbreaking hardware and digital projects, including:
- PERUN suborbital rocket – a hybrid propulsion system with a patented combustion chamber, TVC (Thrust Vector Control), an advanced IMU navigation module, and full recoverability. PERUN is developed under the ESA Boost! programme, enabling research flights above 100 km.
- RASEL – an in-house radar for real-time tracking and communication, ensuring full control during suborbital flights.
- HUSSAR – a portable SAR radar for UAVs, designed for security, border protection, and crisis management applications.
- Digital systems – including AI-based microwave filter tuning software, TM/TC systems for VIRA and PERUN rockets and data transmission from scientific payloads.
By combining science, industry and technology, SpaceForest is building a strong innovation ecosystem that supports both regional development and the growth of the Polish space sector.
Investment Leader – long-term strategy and courage in technological investments
The Investment Leader title was awarded to SpaceForest for its consistent and strategic investments in space technologies and engineering infrastructure.
Key investment initiatives include:
- Development and testing of the PERUN rocket for research missions up to 150 km,
- Construction of mobile launch infrastructure and ground support systems,
- Collaboration with spaceports in Denmark and Portugal for upcoming commercial launches,
- Development of the GFCS (Green Flip Control System) for the reusable Themis rocket, as part of the European SALTO project, in cooperation with Ariane Group.
SpaceForest’s investments translate into new jobs, the development of competencies and the internationalization of its activities — while keeping its engineering centre in Gdynia.
Media Griffin – Recognition by Opinion Leaders
The Media Griffin award was granted by the media patronizing the competition. It goes to companies whose activities inspire, shape the region’s positive image, and promote Pomeranian innovation in Poland and abroad.
